Sitting in a meeting with a leadership team involved in the Exponent Leadership Process. We were discussing requisite capabilities of director staff within the agency.
The talk turned to Planning from a earlier workshop I lead on Time Span Capability and Levels of Planning. Then one of the managers made this statement, “Our agency is often changing plans, don’t you think that instead of focusing on planning that we should be focusing on peoples ability to deal with change?”
Here is the inquiry;
- Should this happen?
- What if your agency stopped creating longer term plans and just started operating on a change management system?
- What if you stopped planning and only focused on change management?
- What are your thoughts about the term “change management”?
- Should change trump planning?
What are your thoughts? Please share in the comment section.
