Provide generalities and let them work out the details

The question about team structure is not how much structure does the team have? All teams need structural supports. The question is what kind of structure? Does is it enable cooperative work, or does it make team work more difficult and frustrating.

Accountability and authority cannot exist in equilibrium

The notion that a team can define accountability & authority means that they know the outcome before it happens & have removed all ambiguity, judgment, innovation & human interaction from the work. That to me sounds like a robot path to disengagement.
