Involving people in the plan will ensure greater buy-in and successful implementation. Sharing neccessary information will keep the plan within the guidelines established. Treat people like adults and if they are wrong, the plan can quickly be adjusted and everyone learns from the challenge.
At the end of day 3 we were all losing patience and we felt it was hopeless…so I tried the following version of the Miracle Question.
The cooperation loop is a mindset of working to find cooperation…any size large and small and develop practice of building from that cooperation.
I argue that it works way better than the resistance loop and the results are greater for everyone.
We find it easier to join the crowd and complain. As opposed to being the outcast who sees the supposed-enemy as a possible-cooperator.
There is a false belief that the actions and behaviors we see in the present have always happened, and that they must continue. While problems are important and must be acknowledged, the more effective focus is to determine the solution – what we want to have happen. This happens through a solution focused process of looking for exceptions and finding already existing small steps to take.
Someone new was brought in that has solved something similar before.
What is the 1st thing they would notice about your challenge?
What would be their 1st step in solving this?
All that is needed is one small step towards your solution. Once you take that step how will you evaluate success?
Looking at your solution, what has already happened that’s working for you…perhaps just a little bit?
Stepping out of a state of overwhelm and anxiety during these challenging and changing times in human services is not always easy.
