If a team seems un-movable, don’t just push harder and scream about how obstinate they are being…resistance is futile. Use the inevitability of change to slightly shift their shared perception from stuck to change.
Great team building activities have the lessons built into them, and when properly framed the team just sees and gets the connection, without much prompting.
If you want to transform a system, you can’t get there with the same knowledge you built it with. The neural structure that built the system, and it sucks, is going to re-build it so it sucks worse…. There is no system transformation without biological transformation within you.
Pretend you are in an experiment and a Scientist is observing your behavior. What would they write/observe that illustrates you are making progress on the solution?
All teams have conflict.
Team conflict can be a positive thing, if it is able to move the team forward. Team conflict can be a negative thing, if it holds the team back.
When conflict happens, deciding whether to Deal With It; Give In; or Hold Out; is a choice that you must make.

If more than 1 person is Responsible for completing the goal, they all have valid arguments, they all are doing what they should be doing….and the because they all are Responsible for the outcome and want to do their best work it causes role confusion.
This may be fixed, somewhat resolved, if we have a single Responsible person…and that Single Responsible person, if confused, had access to the project manager for clarity on the goal.
Work is selling and we all need to focus on persuading others to assist us in completing our work. Managers, especially, need to work to uderstand other perspectives. Plus an understanding that looking for certain personality traits in employees is a waste of time.
