NOISE Analysis: An Alternative to SWOT
The NOISE analysis is an alternative to SWOT. NOISE is a planning technique of looking at what is working and determining areas to improve.

What are your go-to team building activities? Here are some of my favorites that I know will work with teams.
People get into small groups of 3 to 5 and determine what is working well with their team and what they would like to be better in 100 days. Phrasing the activity in ‘present into the future’ allows the team to create solutions and small steps for improvement.
Pre-Animate focuses the team on what is needed for accomplishing the goals and objectives. At the beginning of the project, the hopes and concerns are high. Creating a space for team members to discuss what success will look like, how to get there and creating a deliberate plan to capture what went right, the team purposefully shares knowledge and skills when it can be best used – AT THE START.
In meetings people often know what others are going to say, this is stronger with long-standing work relationships.
I am going to ask you a weird question, Pretend that we all go on break and during this break your team does what is normally does on break…But unknown to the members of your team everyone else was shown which rope is the correct rope to choose. BUT your team did not know this because you all were on a break. In what ways, besides just telling you which rope was the correct choice, could the people and teams support, guide, serve your team in making the right choice?
Here is an opening activity that I use in DiSC Workshops. The purpose is to open the understanding of perceptual awareness and that we all existing epistemic beliefs about ourselves, others, and our organization. By having people go through this exercise then talking about how we are our own blocks to communication and improved performance will create some “a ha” moments.
Developing variations of team building activities creates new lessons and areas for group development, plus keeps team building facilitators fresh and continually improving our own game and process. Here is a variation of the Cycle Time Puzzle Activity.

The objectives of this meeting were;
To unveil the newly re-worked Mission : Vision : Values to the staff.
For the operations team to explain the process and necessary support needed from the staff for a successful implementation of the Mission : Vision : Values.
All team members to discuss and determine action steps for the future development of CCCS.
To have fun, and learn from each other.
I realized today that sometimes I get wrapped up in trying to prove that team building activities are more than fun. While arguing the learning, the fun can be removed from the initiative. It is alright to have fun!
It is acceptable and effective to have fun at work and training.
